I'm curiouse what identification if any is required to open a post office box?, or how about one of the commertial ones like the UPS store for example?.... The intent to the question is not illicit but to prevent certain someones from finding out about repeated orders of stuff....

I rent out a USPS PO Box for my website's snail mail address. I had to show a drivers licence.

Just about every place I see will not ship to a PO box. That might be different at one of those places that rents them out (non US post office).

Get one from a private mailbox company.
That way you can get UPS and Fedex packages there too. You might be able to get away with less ID also. |

I have one and UPS, FEDEX, and DHL will not send parcels to a PO Box, but they will mail you a letter to come and pick up the parcel, porn can be delivered anywhere, the community allows it, the porn co. will let you know if your zipcode allows delivery of porn.

from the USPS, you need a in-state driver's license. (so moving doesn't work, stupid but true.
 )but private boxes are hit or miss if they care. but yeah, lots of places won't deliver to a PO box. |

That's not quite true. It depends on the post office. When I did contract work for a company in Clemson, SC, almost every day I received packages from FedEx and UPS at my PO box or pick-up at the counter. The biggest problem I had were the complete idiots that handled mail orders for companies like DigiKey, Granger, and Newark that didn't know that. Of course talking to a supervisor usually fixed the problem since the people that had been there longer knew that you could ship via other carriers to PO boxes in certain ZIP codes.z |

Heck no! I had to fill out more paperwork to rent a box at a Mailboxes Etc. than it takes to buy a damn gun. |

I would imagine that some of the smaller private postal box rental outfits will accept mail addressed without a PO Box # in the address. Before I agreed to rent they would have to assure me that they are willing to accept mail for me with only my name and their street address. They will know what box it goes into. This alleviates the 'we do not ship to post office box' crap.
Worked for me before in Oregon. They would even forward my mail to me when I was out of state.

Hey, go to a private mail box place like PostNet and rent a mailbox. Most of them will give you 24 hour access to your actual mail box. They will receive UPS, FedEx, and DHL packages for you and put a note in your mail box saying "Come to the counter we have a package for you." You go to the counter pick up your package and you're on your way.
The paperwork that people are complaining about is Postal Form 1583 that is required by the USPS it allows the private mailbox provider to receive mail for you. No one likes filling out the paperwork but those are the rules. A private mailbox cannot be rented out unless a PS form 1583 is filled out and turned in to the local postoffice. |
