Back in Michigan maybe 1 1/2 - 2 years ago Dunham's was selling Saiga 12 gauges for like $250.

Boy I wish I'd have picked one of those bastards up.

Anything you could kick yourself for not buying?

Vector Uzi's for $2600 NIB. Bought 7 of them, in hindsight wish I had gotten a loan and bought 100! Within 1 year they were at $5500 an easy $300k profit!

I was in a local gunshop and a guy was in there trying to sell his Colt 6920 to the owner, and I guess he needed the money for rent. He ended up selling that rifle for $400 to the dealer of the store, and he put a $1100 price tag on it. That rifle was in immaculate like-new condition. I should have offered the guy $600 on the spot, but I didnt.

Also, another local FFL had a SPAS-12 for $799.

An Israeli heavy barrel FAL for $800 and a Remington 1917 Enfield for $300. Both in the past year and both were gone when I went back.

Last year I stopped in a pawn shop that was getting out of the gun business and they had a nice Marlin Camp Carbine in .45 for $207 and a Plainfield M-1 Carbine for $164. I bought the Plainfield on the spot, went back a couple of days later for the Marlin and it was gone

Not something I passed up, but at a funshow once, a guy was selling his 18 inch barrel FNC with folder for 1k and I told him to wait right there while I went to the ATM for some more cash........I even left a friend there to keep him company until I returned.................got back and my friend said the guy got tired of waiting( I was gone 5 minutes) and sold it to someone else.........after I had said I would take it

Preban PolyTech for $600....no wait, I bought that one
Link Posted: 2/15/2006 8:05:13 PM EDT
M1D lottery from the CMP back in 1992-1993. I could have bought an M1D, with papers, scope, mount, all USGI, for $1,000.

I thought I was short of cash, and I didn't want to put it on a credit card.

I made the mistake of passing on a new H&K SP-89 for $800. Anyone want to sell me one at that price so I don't feel so bad?

Colt SP-1 pre-ban at a gunshow in New Hampshire in July of 2001

$600

Too bad I was into the Mil Sup rifles back then.

But not as bad as being offered 2 unissued Colt 1911A1 pistols still in the box and consecutivly serial numbered, $800 for both

I had been looking for a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt/.45 acp with a 4 5/8 in. barrel for YEARS. I was in the market for a different gun when I came across one EXACTLY the way I wanted it ,NIB for $300.00! I had the money and should have bought it.BUT,I didn't.

Pre-ban, semi-auto uzi 9mm, in case, slightly used, with all the assecories, short, fake display barrel, all for about 600 bucks in 1991. Harrisonburg, VA.

Used Steyr semi auto TMP pistol, DeGoffs gun store, Mechanicsville, VA. Can't remember the price, but had three mags, 1 20, 2 thirty.

SKS rifles at Roses in Harrisonburg, VA for 99 bucks, early ninties.

Years ago, an older guy at work told me he could get M1 Garands through the Guard for $75.
This was before I was into guns, other than a cursory interest.
Now I know he was talking about the CMP. (we live in Ohio, and he was connected to Camp Perry)
Now they are not $75 either.

Lots...
Before the days of the now sunset Federal AW ban and the Kalifornia gun ban:
Selling my UZI Model A for $800.
Not buying Colt ARs at less than $6-700 each, and the dealer basically give away the mags.
Not buying HK 91, 93, and 94s for less than $900 a pop.
Not buying AKs for less than $150 each.
Not buying Belgium FNs and FNC for less than $1,500 each.

and right before the 2000 gunban
Selling 3 ARs to friends, two BM, and 1 Armalite
Not buying more AR receivers before the 2000 Kalifornia ban
Not buying a Colt 9mm carbine package for less than $1,200 including 12 Colt magazines
Not buying an AR-10 or SR-25

Recently
Not able to buy the Sig 556
Not able to buy the FN 2000, PS-90, SCAR, and SCAR-H
Not able to buy anymore ARs and SRs
Not able to buy any more AUG

Not taking two job offer in Texas, Florida
Biggest regret, living in the National Socialist State of Kalifornia

Live long enough and you have tons of good deals you missed.

Not buying a Steyr AUG when they were $750. Or an HK91 at that or $800.

Or, a guy at a gun show with an Israeli FAL with a bunch of accessories and two uppers, one of which had the "cutout".

Another one I can think of, but one I eventually ended up with (I kicked myself for not buying it immediately when I saw it, picked it up recently) -

A Like-new Barrett M99 .50, with optics (not great, but they work - Smith and Wesson) - $2600
The guy I bought it from said it had about 15 rounds through it. I think I got a good deal.

Dawoo .223 for $450.

ETA: I did pick up a RRA post ban 16" for $525.

Missed out on those $400 Colt ARs, those 10 SKS unissued in a crate @$75 each, and all the goodies available in the early '90s before the import ban. I was simply too poor to get in on the action. By the time I had my finances in order, the good deals were way gone ('94 ban was pending, and prices went nuts).

I ought to pick up a few rifles now, before the next ban looms. Hmm...that FN/FS2000 is awfully tempting, as is a SIG 556.

More of a missed opportunity.

Couple years back, received a call from my mother in law regarding an elderly woman who's husband, a WWII veteran had passed away a few months prior. Says she spoke with this womans daughter who stated that her mother had several firearms she wanted to get rid of.

I asked her what kind, and my mother in law says - "She said something about a few lugers, and some older rifles her husband had from the war, has about a dozen or so...she just wants to get rid of them, and doesnt care about how much she'd get for them."

Holy shit! Call my father...and request a front for some cash, 5K - dont want to burn an elderly woman, but figure that would be enough to cover everything if she had some good pieces. Dad says okay, and to let him know when to meet. Advise mom in law - call the daughter, and have them sit tight, I'll come right over.

Mother in law calls me a short time later - too late, other daughter spoke to some gun dealer, and they're all gone.

To this day, have no idea what exactly they were, and really probably dont want to know.

Couple more:

I passed on a NIB SteyrAug for $825 in 1994.
I passed on 3 Colt AR15s used for $300 each in 1986.

he told me the story about how he got it from a retired Special Forces guy and he didnt want it, it didnt have capture papers, but from the looks of it Im sure it was authentic

it would have made a nice wall hanger

I had a chance to buy a Chinese AK47 and box full of about 15 mags for like $200 before CA passed its AWB

Back in 85-86, went into my favorite fun store while my dad was grocery shopping (I was 14 or so), saw a HK94 A3 w/ fake internal suppressor (like the MP5A3SD) w/ box and paperwork, in mint condition for $300. I begged my dad to buy it for me and would pay him back with my summer job. Nope, said the old man!

Every now and then, I remind him of that deal and what they are worth now. I think the last time I mentioned it, I think the old man had a tear in his eye. My dad was never really into guns, didn't hate them, just never into them like me!

Winchester 94 in .44mag, used but looked brand new. $249. Doh.

I had always wanted a HK-91. My first real paychecks (from Uncle Sam) came in early '89. The import ban was enacted before I could make it to a stocking dealer.

Also, back when there was some semblence of freedom in California (prior to Roberti-Roos), I eyed a SP-89 for what was a whopping $999 bucks. That might as well have been ten thousand bucks to me at the time. Wonder what they sell for nowadays. Good luck finding one...

An FEC XC220. Passed on one three years ago. Haven't seen one since. I don't know why I need one but I do.
