There is nothing wrong with WOLF. Before, the WOLF-Bashers used the lacquer and red-sealant to blame for any problems with WOLF. Now that they've gone to a polymer case with a different coating, people like to scream that it's underpowered, dirty, inaccurate crap.

WOLF isn't meant to be a tack-driving hyper-clean ammo. It does what it was designed to do: provide an inexpensive yet reliable shooting experience to the user.

ETA: I've shot Wolf in my AR, AK, Glock, and 1911, and have never encountered a single issue!

I have shot wolf in every calibre I own except Tokarev.

I shot it wholesale out of my SKS and had issues all the time, but It was with the rifle not the ammo.

You shooting it in an AR??

I have noticed that some brands of AR are picky about the ammo that they will reliably feed. My Bushmaster doesn't seem to give a darn what you feed it, but I have seen other brands (Armalite, Colt) that wouldn't feed certain types of ammo.

5.56 the jams were FTF. In three different AR's. I bought a case after theredhorseman got on my ass.

Brass baby.

ETA: One Bushy, One RRA and a fraken AR.

Have you had the chance to try the new brass cased Wolf ammo?
Link Posted: 2/11/2006 12:19:16 PM EDT
You really owe it to yourself to try their new reloadable brass stuff. I shot a batch of it in 30-'06 and .303 and it was great. Clean and accurate and cheap too. ( $6.99 on sale for 20 at Dunhams's )

Nope. This was the silver looking cased wolf.

No issues. You said I should give it a try and I did. I have not tried it in my Colts yet.

You ought to try some of the new brass stuff. There isn't a whole lot of it out there...yet....but I imagine you will get better results.

From the prices I have seen advertised, it should still be a decent deal.

Yugo SKS, only 800+ rounds, No problems, lots of fun. Cleans up easy. No lacquer build up. Accurate enough to kill white tail at 117 yards - one shot.

No Problems here.

+1 great for anything but defence.

then again I've never used it in my AR. But runs great in the AK.
Link Posted: 2/11/2006 12:31:48 PM EDT
I've got about 1200 through my AK and SKS, without a single jam, probably about 1000 through my Bushy, only jams I've expirenced was because of the orlite mag I used, and that I droped the mag in the dirt and tried to keep using it without cleaning it, just to see if it would work.

Wolf Ammo for everybody!
18k here, no issues to report
Link Posted: 2/11/2006 12:38:40 PM EDT
With approximately 1000 rounds of the new polymer-clad steel-cased 55g FMJ through my frankenrifle, I can't report any problems.

Accuracy can't be determined as I have bad eyes and no optics on the rifle. Reliability has been 100%.

If the price is right, I'll not hesitate to use Wolf for training. The only thing I do believe in is that I should stockpile brass-cased milspec ammo for social situations. With the consequences so severe, I believe only the best ammo should be used for defensive purposes. In training, any malfs only add to your training.

And, finally, if you're rifle won't reliably feed and extract Wolf, you might want to look into having your weapon opened up a bit. Just my thoughts. I could be wrong.
Link Posted: 2/11/2006 12:40:12 PM EDT
No problems with it in my sks and Ak, but my bushys don't like it.

Just got in another 4k

Love the stuff!

Link Posted: 2/11/2006 12:53:58 PM EDT
5 AK's, 3 AR's, 3 Glocks, 1 High Power, 1 Sig, 1 Taurus, 3 Kel-Tecs, 2 SKS's, 1 P-38 etc, etc, all funtion flawlessly with Wolf. I'm williing to use it in every gun I have if they make ammo in that caliber.

Wolf is all I shoot out of my Bushy M4gery. I've never had a malfunction with it.

I'm running thier .308 and it works just fine. Average of about 3 MOA from my FAL or another way 13 of 16 shots in 3" inside the 9 ring. There WILL be fliers though so you can't be certain of getting that accuracy just more likely than not.

ETA: It's running 2600fps from my 19" barrel. Not to shabby.
Link Posted: 2/11/2006 1:09:35 PM EDT
I have shot the 223 and the 308. Works fine for me.
Link Posted: 2/11/2006 1:13:37 PM EDT
I don't use it in anything with a scope on it, but otherwise I have no complaints.

I guess I only have one complaint wiht wolf.

I broke two extractor pins on an AR using it. I figured it was probably mostly to do with an out of spec bolt, but I think that plus the steel case had something to do with it.

Still shoot the Shit out of it though

"SILVER looking"?

Say what? There is no "silver looking cased wolf". Are you talking about Silver Bear? Nickel plated steel cased Russian ammo? That is not "Wolf".

Wolf has a grayish polymer coating on the steel case.

By "FTF" do you mean "Failure to Fire" or "Failure to Feed"? Since Wolf has softer primers than M193 or M855, I can't imagine FTFire unless your hammar sping is installed backwards (BTDTGTS). FTFeed is a magazine issue.

Nope, it's Wolf. Black box, silver/gray looking cases, Failure to Feed (USGI Mags work with all other brands of ammo I have tried).

Wolf .223 is the only ammo that my Bushmaster SEBR's didn't have any problems with at the range today.
Link Posted: 2/11/2006 6:15:00 PM EDT
A finicky AR is not a dependable AR.

There may come a time when what ever ammo you can find is the only ammo you have. If you have a Gucci AR that only runs on Perrier ammo, you may be SOL.
Link Posted: 2/11/2006 6:22:22 PM EDT
My ARs eat it like candy. I've had a few malfunctions from bad primers, but only 2-3 from several cases. It's all going into a big ass pile of dirt at 50 yards, so I have no desire to spend more money on ammunition than I have to.
Link Posted: 2/11/2006 6:26:35 PM EDT
I have shot THOUSANDS of rounds of Wolf in various calibers and have had only 1 malfunction

And I support the WAADL, but have no card
