It's guys like you who I'd rather shop with any day.  I don't mind spending a few extra bucks for good service from a guy who knows what he's talking about, takes time with me, etc.

Your going the extra mile to help this guy, and giving him a pass on the mounting was wise.  He may be wrong, but word-of-mouth is important and he has nothing to complain about.
