It was a joke.  Everyone makes fun of the HR people because it's like they have the power of life and death over everyone else.  I've even applied for positions in HR departments.  Then I can be "THE MAN" bringing everybody down!

Besides, it's not my watch that vexes them, I think it's the abacus I use to perform calculations on all the tests.

Don't see much about Poljot.  Decent watch, but mine needs to be serviced (has the E.T.A. movement).  Good buy for those who want a $300 automatic.

Cheapest thing I can find that shows the date, day of the week, and time on one screen with the full back light.

When it breaks or the face gets too scratched up, toss it and buy another one.  Usually around 10 bucks.

Fossil "gunmetal" titanium watch with a carbon fiber dial. It is hardly a $5 piece of shit. There are more watches out there oher than Omega, Rolex, and $5 POSs. Maybe you should have put an other in there.

Seiko Titanium.  Got it for Christmas 7 years ago.

I have bought 1 new battery for it and had a few pins replaced.  It is as light as a feather and still looks damn good.  I wear it every day.

Omega Seamaster GMT......which is for sale on the EE, by the way; Just because I hardly ever wear it because it's so damned expensive! For every day wear, it's a Luminox or a Casio Marine gear. I've had the Casio for about 12 yrs and it's suffered through a lot of abuse. The luminox is OK, but IMO they're overpriced for what they are.

I also dislike jewelry.  The only two items I can tolerate are a watch, and my wedding ring.

My wedding ring was TOUGH to get used to.  Not for the "regular" reasons either.

That's exactly how I feel.  I only wear the watch because I am so anal-retentive and compulsive, and HATE being late to meetings, etc.  Plus, I bought a good diving watch with a built-in depth gauge (that I use for diving - as a back-up to my computer), so I just wear that every day.  The concept of a "dress watch" boggles my mind.

The wedding ring is okay, but I may get a tattoo instead at some point, just so I don't have to feel the constriction on my finger (I am constantly imagining that it'll get caught on something and rip my finger off ).  Since we got married in Hawaii, I almost just got a tattoo there, but decided to give the wedding ring a chance for a year - maybe I'll get used to it.

Citizen Titanium Solar-powered Eco-Drive.  Titanium with a black face looks sharp.  Only thing I wish it had was a date function.  I bought it as a "dress watch" since I usually wore a beat up IronMan which I've had for years, but have taken to wearing the Citizen daily.

I have three.  I wear a casio analog/digital while flying since I can keep Zulu time and local with it.  I have two Seikos.  An automatic diver watch that I wear casually and a Seiko Couture for dress.

The Casio is almost 10 years old and has had only the battery and band replaced a few times and still runs fine.  I beat the crap out of it too!

At work I wear the cheapest digital I can find ($5.99 @ Walmart).

It seems that the ammount of damage an MRI scanner does to a watch is directly related to how expensive it is.

When I'm not working, I wear a Luminox that's still going strong after almost 10 years.

Nuts to your 21 jewel Seiko!

I only have 17, although I never really counted them. What does a jewel look like in a watch?

Anybody?

Heck, I'm just surprised it's hung on this long. The last watch repairman told me not to bring it back. I wasn't going to, the guy was a jerk.

You can't see the jewels. They are simply the little smooth bits of real jewel that the watche's cogs run on. The more jewels the more accurate and long lasting the watch is.

Personally, I would not spend the money on a Rolex.  But i dont fault people for buying nice things.  A Chevy cobalt will get you to work just as well as a Lexus, but i dont fault the lexus owners. A S&W Model 10 will protect you just as well as a 1911, but i dont fault the 1911 owners. You can live off rice & beans but i dont fault someone who enjoys a nice steak dinner.

The plainest Timex I could find - white face with black numbers.

Then I got a few straps for it.  During the holidays I had the Royal Stuart tartan and now have a Blackwatch tartan band on it.

I hate big, bulky, athletic watches with suits and sportcoats.

I would like to get a decent, used (old, vintage, etc) pocket watch but I know nothing about them and dont want to end up buying junk.
