I was thinking about that the other day actually. If Brokeback featured two very attractive women, with the exact same plotline and scenes, it would probably be considered "smut" and discarded by the media. However since it's two guys it's the best movie ever made. Same thing with Paris Hilton/Carl's Jr commercial that got banned pretty much everywhere. Had that been some musclebound male model in a speedo washing the car no one would've complained. But since it was a (moderately) attractive, scantily clad young woman it became an issue. |
