Thank you.

I wish the ARFcom Lite version allowed replies from my phone.

I'll come home to the laptop to update tomorrow after the bronchoscopy results come back. I think that I will need some "down-time" no matter what the results are.

I am trying to be upbeat before I go back to the hospital, but right now, even the best result is problematic. The support from you guys makes it a lot better.

We both thank you.

Tell Ooy to eat some Lahb Nua from up North of Udornthani. THAT will fix everything.

Krung Thep is a tough place to breath. Move if you can!

Loved everything about Thailand. My two kids are half Thai. The daughter is headed for Iraq. Helo mechanic/wanna be crewchief. Son lives in Colorado with wife and two kiddos.

This morning at about 0300, my girlfriend started coughing up blood and had difficulty breathing. She at first refused to go to the ER, as she is the Sergeant Major, and everything will be alright because SHE said it will be alright.

After arguing with her for about half an hour, she refused to get a cab, and insisted she drive to the hospital. The doc took one look at her and admitted her. She is on a nebulizer right now, and is going to be staying a few days, and will have a CT scan later this afternoon.

The doc told me that the scan is to see if the mass in her lung is a tubercle, a tumor, or an infection. He does not know as of yet.

I am only home for a few minutes to charge my phone, and will walk back to the hospital.

She's a Buddhist, but I sure would appreciate it if you folks could send a few prayers our way.

I am scared to death. She's the best thing that has happened to me in a long, long, time, and I don't want to lose her.

SITREP:

OK, guys and gals, thank you again for all the support and offers of help. They are much appreciated.

It turns out that Ooy DOES have TB. The third sputum sample that they took after she coughed up more blood yesterday tested positive. This was after my last SITREP. They ran it again, same result. It's ironic to sit here thanking God that she ONLY has TB.

At any rate, as soon as the results came back, they started her on meds, and she hasn't coughed up any more blood, and slept through the night for the first time in a week. They're looking at discharging her tomorrow, if the meds take hold, which it appears that they are doing.

The doc had me get a chest x-ray this AM, which came back negative, so I am now undergoing a skin test. If it comes back positive, I'll be isolated for awhile.

Ooy is under isolation right now, and I have to wear a mask when I'm around her. They are looking at releasing her tomorrow, but to stay at home with no contact with anyone if she isn't wearing a mask. The doc is recommending that we limit contact, which will make things rough. I've been around her every day for 3 months. You'd think the damage would be done by now, but these docs are good, so I'll tend to listen to their advice, even if it isn't pleasant. They've been straight shooters and very compassionate.

TB: It sure beats the Big C!

It might be a couple of days before I can reply. ARFcom Lite beats no ARFcom, but I wish I could reply to all of you that have been keeping us positive these last few days.

Thai Buddhist. Her brother is the Abbot of a Wat in Ubon Ratchatani, her hometown in Northeast Thailand, about 40Km from the Lao border.

Good to hear it isn't the Big C. Prayers sent for her speedy recovery and you for a negative TB test. I had a few buddies on Active duty who had to do a 6 month antibiotic regime since they test positive and they said it sucked but it sure beats an active case of TB.

It crazy you dont have it to.
It sounds crazy to be happy for having TB but given the other options Id take the TB and be happy.

Well, just got home for a few minutes. We've both been in isolation for the last week. She's doing a lot better, is taking her meds on time and getting stronger every day. I have tested negative, so I can go out in public now, but she's still under 24/7 isolation for another week.

I've been trying my best to take care of her, and she sure has the proper attitude, but these past couple of weeks have really taken a lot out of me. I wear a mask when I'm with her, so she doesn't have to, as it restricts her breathing too much, and it gets tiring after awhile.

Right now, I just wanted to let you guys and gals know we're OK, even though it's going to be a tough row to hoe. TB sure beats the hell out of cancer.

Glad to hear things are working out.

You will need to keep up with your ppds, your risk is substantial.
And make sure your docs in the future know of your exposure, esp if you are in with any prolonged cough.

AWESOME !! Not that TB is good news, of course, but sure is better than some of the alternatives, and it's fantastic to hear that she is on the mend!
