My wife's best friend is our city law director. She has been a socialist liberal for as long as I have known her. This is how bad she was.... she went to law school because she went to see the movie, Schindler's List, and decided that she wanted to go into a career that would help change the world.

She chose municipal law. I don't know how she managed that, but that was her story.

Anyway, I've been working on her for a long time, and finally.... finally... I got her to read The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.

She loved it!!!!

So... I urged her to read Atlas Shrugged.

She bought a copy and disappeared for a few days over her Christmas break.

She just called me today and apologized to me for ever having argued with me about anything remotely socialist. She's even using the TERMINOLOGY FROM THE BOOKS!!!

HOLY CRAP!!! I am having a very good afternoon because of this!!

If you can manage not to fall asleep during either, try Atlas Shrugged...but you can skip John Galt's 40 page blathering, it's a rehash of the rest of the book.

They aren't 'gun-related'. They are 'personal responsibility' and 'consequence of action' related.

How long did it take? I did the same thing to a girl ( I was kinda-sorta seeing when I was in law school). Unfortunately, she has regressed somewhat. But I got her friend to agree with me that gun controldoes not have any effect on crime. Both of them run a non-profit that helps kids in teh DC correctional institute. You can imagine just how liberal they are. At least they are not hypocrits and really practice what they preach.
