Can anyone tell me the quickest way to obtain a passport? I have never needed one, but am going to require one soon. What kind of time frame should a person expect for turnaround on getting one. Thanks

Go to the Post office and get the forms, they have instructions on how to speed the process.

In 2000 I paid the 75 (?can't remember exactly how much) to expedite it because of a last minute decision by my company. Figured it wouldn't come in time and I could stay home. Ended up coming in about 3 weeks. I did enjoy the trip though.

See http://travel.state.gov/ for information.
They have a printable form (2 pages not 1), and locations of local offices.
Walgreens does photos-use pure white background.
Turned mine in just before Thanksgiving and got my new passport for Christmas.
Good luck!
