from the who has served thread I see that we have lots of aircraft mechs trained by tax payer dollars. I want to tell all of them to get out with an A&P and get a job with an airline! the money is beter the benies are good and you have already served your country. The only thing you will miss is the sargent major kicking your arse across the room because your undies arent starched!

I got my A&P and never once used it. Just thought it might come in handy when I get to be a rich technology geek and buy my own helicopter.

I did work at Cleveland Hopkins Airport in that capacity, back in '70-'71. When they wanted to send me to Germany, I quit due to a new family. Had and closed some nice jobs since then. Now stuck in a paranoid ridden, nasty chemical plant. Being over 50 now, my future is in the past.

I've been using my A&P since I got out of school. Never worked for an airline and never want to. Cargo all the way, baby.

It's a mechanics market out there. Everyones hiring. You just have to be willing to move.
