I work 4 10 hour shifts (3 days a week off) I took today and tommorrow off and get Sunday Monday Tues off as my regular days off. I get paid for 10 hours Christmas Eve and 10 hours Christmas Day. Same next week 10 hours New Years Eve, 10 Hours New Years Day. I will work New Years Day so I will actually get paid 25 hours for working 10. (10 hours Holiday pay and time and a half for every hour I work) |
Now that sounds like a good deal. |

The days between Christmas and New Years used to be holidays for us.... they are for the rest of the company, but since support has to be 24x7x365, we don't get those days as holidays. We get them as 'floating holidays' that we can use as vacation. They tell us to use them first, so that we won't be able to take off between the holidays. Used to be you'd come in and work, and get holiday pay, AND holiday worked (which comes out to be 2.5x time)... but now if I work next week, it's just straight regular pay. |

Until I die....starting last August.....damn I'm bored......and really starting to give thought to throwing out hand jobs for crack (just to keep busy ). Thank God that I have started hunting and capturing assmonkeys in my free time, it's the only thing that keeps me sane. By the way.... My Christmas vacation started yesterday, the 22nd and like you I don't return until the 3rd. That's twelve days. We'll call 'em the Twelve Days of Christmas. I didn't no effin' partridge in a pear tree though. If I did I woulda shot the partridge and ate it and replanted the pear tree in my back yard. Not so hopeful for any of the rest of the twelve days of christmas gifts either, but if I'm left alone, can catch up on some sleep, can get in some time shooting, and don't hafta fuckin' slave for The Man, then I'm cool Merry Christmas.  |
