I had a really shitty day at work (I'm an EMT--cardiac arrest, a bad domestic, and another cardiac patient).  I won't go into details because of all the HIPAA junkies out there but it's been rough.  Sitting here on ARFCOM drinking straight Jack is about all I can do to unwind, and I can't sleep.  Who else is up?  Why?  Anyone else have a shitty day?

Edit for sp...

I'm up, not cause I wanna be, just got so many VA-induced health problems that regular sleep is rarely a possibility.

Got a hobby? (drinking don't count)   anything that is relaxing and quickly takes your mind off your day's work?

I hardly ever drink but today was enough of a reason to. On the 5th shot and counting...I think I'll be signing off for the night shortly...starting to feel it.

Uggggh,

didn't you get enough of those crazy shifts in the SPS?

I averaged 80-90 hrs per 7 day week.   Three swing shifts, three mids, and then three days off, but usually had to work 2 of those days as well.

Got my leave denied for two years straight.  Only got some when MPC sent a nastygram to HHQ stating I had accrued my max 60 days and had just lost six days leave.   My asswipe Sqdn CC then ordered me to take 15 days leave, but only on my scheduled days off.   I got even, he retired as a LTC, got passed over for Col several times while commanding my sqdn.

One of the reasons I seperated was a study done on retired SPS members, which stated they lived only an average of 4 years, after retiring with 20 years in service, mainly attributed to the screwed up schedules.

you too.....

My current employer trusts me to start and taxi a customer's 25 million dollar jet out to the active runway, run the puppy to full power to do maint checks, but locks the tool room when the attendant is gone, because he doesn't trust us with his tools.

Even more funny cause I have more invested in tools, sitting at his shop, than he does.

It's 2:14am here.  I'm up because I have a killer sore-throat and cough.  I am supposed to work on Saturday, so I have to kick this thing by then.

I hate being sick at Christmas.

I kinda got a blank stare when I asked if he thought we were just launching Saturn V rockets just for shits and giggles.

Not the best arguement, but still valid.

Does 0530 count? Waking up this early actually hurts . I've been acclimated to an 0800 start during college only to wind it back to 0500 for my holiday break job.

I just got through beating the shit out of our IT guys,  it is there systems.

When it breaks,  OH can you came show us what is wrong, we think the power is messed up.

I tell them if I have to get up to check the power,  and if it is OK...   I am going to stuff your fatass into the SUN server.

They did not listen....

I'm up now.  I fell asleep on the couch last night.  When I woke up around 3:30, I couldn't get back to bed.  It was off to the Internet gun forums for me.

I'm not drinking any alcohol this weekend.  I'm on-call for my IS dept at a hospital.  JCAHO was here a few weeks ago, but showing up to work with alcohol on the breath isn't a good career move.
