Friday was our company Christmas Party, and the announcement was official made that another engineer will be deployed in January.
Mitch was already at the front of the crowd to accept his 5yr gift, and the general Manager announced Mitch's deployment....the entire room stood and gave him a standing ovation.

Really a touching sight to see.

Mitch is really worried, he is a Naval Reserve serving with the SeaBees out of Green Bay. It was hinted to him that they will be doing escort duty for convoys....basically IED bait.
He has a wife, a 14 yo step daughter and a 6 yo son.
Mitch re-enlisted after 9-11 knowing full well what the price might be, but he is more worried for his son than anything.

Mitch must be attached to the same NMCB as I. We recieved word about two months ago to be ready, last night I got the call telling what day to report to the reserve center. Convoy escort duty does seam like one of the more dangerous aspects of the job. Thislink has a little info on the missions the Seabees undertake.
