Christmas trees should be real, and they should have real candles in them.

What's the point of holding onto customs if we don't bother to do it right?

Wow, I'm surprised.  I am the only one so far that voted to not put a tree up this year.

Something about real lit candles in a dried out tree doesn't exactly sit with my right.

Will never have a fake tree.

Only a real one.

After having real trees all my life, a few years ago I bought a good fake. MUCH easier to deal with, and not nearly the fire hazard that a real one is. Plus, I never have to water it!

Go real, or go home.

I prefer a real tree..

A blue spruce makes the house smell great.

Its not the same with artificials.. They only collect dust and after a few years, they pick up strange storage odors..

Pussy

Obviously, you want to have a bucket of water or a fire extinguisher nearby (just in case).  But throughout my childhood and teen years, my family never had a tree catch fire, nor did any of our relatives or friends.  So it's not really that big a problem.

To me, having electric lights on a tree is just as lame as having a plastic tree.  (Not knocking anyone who does these things - just saying that I don't personally like it, because it doesn't seem "right")

Although a tree did catch fire in the sergeant's mess one year when I was in the army - but that was because of someone kocking it over during a drunken Christmas lunch, so it's really not fair to blame the tree for that.

Some arfcommer you are, you forgot the "both" option.

I have a prelighted fake tree just in case I don't feel like stringing lights on a real tree because of work schedules, etc.

Been using an artificial tree for three years now.  Much less of a pain in the ass to deal with.

Real.

Is our 1st Christmas together ( my girl friend is from the Phillipines ). My gf has never had a 'real' Christmas tree before so we went to a local tree farm and cut one down together and drug it home.

Looks & smells really nice.
