We make dial tone

I work on several switching platforms but primarily a Nortel DMS-10

www.srcaccess.net/images/dms10.jpg

The poor old thing is an antique as far as switching equipment is concerned.  It was originally installed in 1982 with a planned life expectancy of 20yrs.

I also work with Fujitsu FLM150 fiber optic transport terminals

www.comstocktel.com/images/flm600adm.gif

We also provide internet service.

Calix is a fairly new product we use to provide DSL.

www.calix.com/images/products/calix_c7/calix_c7_graphic.jpg

I've seen a few Nortel DMS 10's

I take dial tone and run it down some copper wires to make people's fone ring as well.  No fiber to mess with however...

DSL, and Wireless broadband are also services we provide.

We make these for nearly every area of specialty in medicine:

Using all sorts of machines in a variety of laboratories and plants.  There's way too many machines involved in the process.

Our company did over $30 Billion in sales last year.  I'm responsible for about $5 million in sales to hospitals.

Great thread! Here's the best I can come up with:

I design and install IP-based call centers, using Cisco IPCC. The phones on your desk may look a little something like this:

The Cisco MCS servers for the PBX (CallManager) and the IVR/ACD (IPCC) will look a little something like this:

The room that I end up spending my time in for the on-site portion of the project, will sometimes look like this:

What I REALLY make is documentation, but I can't show you any without some heavy editing to protect the innocent. Besides, nobody really wants to see 70+ pages of Viso diagrams, tables, port utilization projections, queueing algorithms, blah, blah, etc, etc.

Personally I don't make anything but money, but I'll tell you how I do it.

I work for an organization that takes aircraft that their previous civilian or military owners neglected/lost/broke/crashed/otherwise destroyed restores them and puts them on display.  I'm the dude who sells you all tickets to get in, or sells you merchandise in the gift shop.

One of the planes we have is this SR-71B, the only remaining example of the Blackbird trainer variant.  If you can find out where it "lives" now online you will know where I work.  I'll give another hint that might help any of you who drive down I-94 between Chicago and Detroit, you can't miss the signs for this place.

I help make hole, using rigs that look something like this:

I mostly sit in a little trailer like this (that's my Mustang over by the living trailer):

While some other guys do stuff like this on the rig floor:

We generate surveys (measurements of inclination and azimuth at a particular measured depth, then used to compute true vertical depth, and north and east displacment) and gamma ray logs (graph of readings from a gamma ray sensor vs measured depth). So basically, we figure out where the hole is, and what kind of stuff we are drilling through.

OK.  I'll give it a try.

You buy these:

Which are scanned through these:

And that generates enormous amounts of this:

Well, I design systems like these:

To capture and analyze all that data, so guys like this:

Can tell customers that their sales pitches are well-informed.

Then, when you go back to buy more of these:

Those guys take credit for you doing what you would have done anyway, and they get big bonuses.  Meanwhile, I get to cancel family vacations at Thanksgiving and Christmas and work 7 days a week to meet an artificial deadline so that other people can get the bonus I'll never see in a million years.

I do some damn fine work and what I have built would give us mind-blowing competitive advantage if only it weren't squandered by organizational paralysis.
