This may be an old dupe...but I suspect many have never seen it.

For the uninitiated:  This is a video of a missile exercise in which STANDARD Missiles were fired from the Aegis cruiser in formation just ahead of the Aegis cruiser in which the cameraman was embarked.

Please look VERY carefully at the lower starboard (right) side of the missile deck.  If you look carefully, you will see Seaman Clueless emerge from the starboard passageway and proceed across the deck.

When the forward missile group launches the first of which is the normal 2-missile salvo, Clueless suddenly realizes his peril and RUNS for cover in the port passageway.  He does not make it before the after VLS group launches the second missile.

As you can plainly see, STANDARD are very energetic.

This is my first attempt at posting a video so if I screw it up, please bear with me.

COVER!!!

It has been a while since I saw that posted.  That dude was in the wrong place and the very wrong time.

Yeah.  But it has been many moons ago.

If not, it probably took a while to grow his hair back

In truth...I don't know.  Immediately after this incident, info was clamped down and nobody in the HQ would talk about it.  The vid was already out there however...thanks to the web!

I'll try to find out.  Even if he was not burned badly, I suspect he was injured including loss of hearing.

My guess is he needed to change his skivvies too.

One thing we all forgot.  That might be a female sailor!

It would be cool to know he made it.

One of my best friends was on the shiloh in 2001.

I just sent him an email to see what he knows about this.

Think that will buff out? Methinks no.

If you stop the video right at 0:22, you can see a splash on the port side, right about the place someone would land if they had gotten blown overboard by the blast.

There are easier ways to get out of a couple of weeks of work.......
