Anyone watching this?

The movie came out in 2003.  The Ford Taurus that the girl drives around appears to be a 2005.

What gives??

I have never seen it, but I bought my 2005 Chrysler in December, 2004.  I know one guy who had HIS 2005 in mid year 2004, through the regular dealer network.

I'd imagine you could get one even earlier if you promised to feature it in a movie.

What makes you think it's a 2005 Taurus?

The tail lights.  I thought the 04 and earlier models had the lights that ran from left to right, while the 05s only have two lights on outer edge.

The lettering on the one in the movie is also almost identical to the 2005.  I just got an 05 Taurus last month (delivered in Oct 04 though).  Also, if the movie came out in 2003, it was probably filmed in 2002 (as evidenced by the TX emissions decals on the vehicles in the movie- ie the old truck has 02 decals).

Here's an 05:

Well, you're right about the release vs. filming date. It was originally released in Germany on 7 Feb 03, so post probably didn't wrap until December, and principle photography was probably done by August.

I notice that the grille of the movie car has a chrome bar, and the white '05 doesn't. That could just be a trim level difference though. I dunno. Looks like a three-year-old rental car to me.
