Hard to tell but I think these features are confirmed:

No gas return system visable.

Relatively weak optic mounted in scout configuration

Box mag indicates battle rifle + caliber

Pistol grip

AK style stock, receiver, and forearm

Looks like the same guy. This is the only other pic I could find, and the watermark covers some of the weapon.

NABLUS, : A Palestinian fires during clashes with israeli soldiers in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, 13 December 2005. Fierce gun battles erupted during an army incursion in the largest West Bank city leaving one Palestinian dead and 25 others wounded along with two Israeli soldiers. The clashes which residents said were the fiercest for around six months, broke out during an arrest operation which saw around 20 jeeps pile into the city at daybreak before leaving in late morning. I am thinking either a dragunav or RPG with a homemade scope mount... drilled right into the wood.

but, it does look kinda like a Stoner 63, however the relative rarity of those keeps me from accepting that possibility..... but in the back of my mind I think that may be it.............

I don't think so. The front sight on a BM59 is at the gas block. The front sight on the Mystery Rifle is at the end of the forend. The position of the shooter's hand relative to the receiver is not consistent with a BM59 or other Garand-pattern rifle. Acually, it's pretty hard to correlate the position of the shooter's hand with the upper portion of the receiver. There is a pronounced "hump" that represents the top of the receiver, but the hump does not extend back as far as the magazine. It's really a strange-looking rifle.

Good adjustment.  Really makes it more clear.  But it is still the goofiest looking rifle.
