Except that he didn't put it all out. He just got the gang members to stop killing each other. AFAIK these two gangs are still killing people outside of the gangs at will. The fire is still burning and people are still dying. Only now it isn't the blood thirsty gangstas who are dying, it's the gas station attendants, and the dope heads, and the witnesses to crimes, and police and so on. If Tookie had gotten both gangs to lay down their arms, give up all of their criminal activities and take up jobs in the private sector or work as community volunteers then I MIGHT feel an ounce of compassion for him. |

Make it last 2 hours while being publicized on national tv. Dateline can cover it and rehash the murders while he cooks. Then feed the cooked parts to inmates later as "mystery meat."

If it makes you feel any better, there is a pretty good chance that the sodium thiopental isn't always delivered in a high enough dosage to maintain unconciousness throughout the procedure. But the next drug they give paralyses all voluntary muscle movement, including breathing, so /if/ the condemned is regaining conciousness during the agonizing portion of the execution, no one will be able to tell from the witness area. P.S.--It's 2:01 CST, so it should be Go Time in CA. I have my doubts about the death penalty, but...can't help but feel like the right thing is being done. Whether, white, black, brown, yellow........no one should be allowed to take advantage of our system for 20 years, while it took him seconds to snuff out the life of 4 people who never did any harm to them.
