Do you give to any charity organizations on regular basis?
Do you know how the organization is using your donations?

I used to give a little here and there but not to any one organization on regular basis.  Couple years ago my wife had to do some research on charity organizations for her accounting class.  She learned quite a bit about what percentage of donations actually reach the recepients and was surprised at the findings.  Based on her research we chose three organizations and we give every month evenly to

Doctors Without Borders-USA

The Salvation Army

Christian Children’s Fund

What about you?
Who do you give to, if any?

I dont throw money into a big vague charity with a president that makes $250,000 per year but my company supports a charity where a certain underprivledged child is assigned to a certain employee.

This year I got two brothers and bought them both bicycles and top of the line Sony Walkmen.

I went to burger king the other morning to get breakfest. I pulled around back to eat and read the paper when i saw a homeless guy sleeping on the ground. Mind you it was about 15* outside. I went over and woke him up and gave him my food,he needed it more then i did.

But do you check to see how the charity organization is spending your donations?
You'll be surprised how little goes to the needy in some organizations.

10% off the top.  Half of that to the Church and the rest to various organizations.

I give money to the NRA when I can spare it,usually when I go to Foodlion to get groceries they have little tags you can pull off and have scanned to add 1,5 or 10 dollars to your bill to buy food for hungry kids.I dont give too much though, that would clash with my wish that about 90% of the human race would eat shit and die
