Yeah so I have to rant on BB&T, Optics Planet, and Midway + check cards.
So I order something from midway a week ago, and cancelled the order. I still don't have the money back, midway says they released it on that day but BB&T says they didn't. I also ordered a scope for 121$ from optics planet, whom proceeded to double charge me, pulling me into the negatives on my checking account. I then call optics planet and they say they have a charge for 121, a credit for 121, and a charge for 121 on file which I find completely fucking stupid in the first place. BB&T through all of this has been completely unhelpful informing me that I need to have the companies fax them on company letterhead with the amount, the date, my account number, and a managers signature before they can do anything about it. On top of that I'm sure they'll want me to pay a rediculous overcharge fee.

All in all to hell with internet purchases from now on.

sorry had to rant!

Just as an FYI, don't use your check card for online purchases. I always use a regular credit card, just because they give me a lot more power to dispute a charge. Debit cards give you the same ability, but just like in your situation the money is already removed from your checking account, now you have the play the waiting game to get it back. With a regular credit card, when you dispute a charge it WILL get the retailers attention very quickly. Also, with debit cards charges hit your bank account immediately, but a refund usually takes 3-4 days before it shows up, so that +121,-121,+121 will actually hit you for -242 before the refund catches up in a few days.  I work in retail management and it is always difficult when we run into this situation on a refund. Refunds credited to a debit card will not hit their bank account immediately, so if they go back into the store after a $250 refund to purchase another item, they may have insufficient funds by the time they get to the register......always fun.....

It's not just your bank.  I use 5/3 and notice that charges go through a lot quicker than refunds, the bank loves sitting on your money, known as float, collecting a day or two of interest before putting it back in your account.  There have been several times where I have returned something to a store and bought something different within 5 minutes.  The refund always appears a couple days after the charge.

Yeah thats what I've been noticing, I usually don't use my check card to order things, usually credit card and just pay it off. This time I decided to use the check card, big mistake.
I was keeping track of it and they'd charge me for things within MAYBE 5 minutes...refunds...well I'll let you know when I get them =P
