Yes, they are legal in Bama.  I just couldn't pass up the price on it. Now its time to find some arrows and broadheads and get to practicing.

Barnett Quad 300.  It's a bit on the bulky side.  Next time I get one a little less speedy and less bulky.

Still, it's a lot of fun!

I never did take any pics of it.

I hunted outside of Selma on the Alabama River back in 1990. Crossbows were not legal in Alabama back then. But it's nice to see that they allow them now. It opens more hunting opportunities for the elderly and disabled. Don't take that the wrong way. I don't have a problem with crossbows.

FWIW, crossbows shoot bolts, not arrows.

Not mine, but I own the same model.  I just got it with a 60lb draw for target shooting but I think they offer them up to 175lb for game hunting.

I like em' old school.

My bowstave is a bit off center and the brindle binding is a bit loose around the stirrup.  I really should send it back to Uncle Iolo for a rebinding.

Not too shabby... Crossbows use 'bolts' not arrows.  Although I bet in a pinch, you could slap an arrow on there and make it make someone say 'ouch'.

I think they'd be interesting... but I'd rather have a straight limb longbow.  ;)

I knew I would call them arrows instead of bolts. Kinda like when I say clip instead of magazine. Either way, they are samething. But I know I probably should call them the right thing, its all good tho. Mine has a 150 pound pull.

What type of cocking device do you have for it?  From my experience unless you get the string pulled back to exactly the same spot every time you will have really wide groups.

Looks like it's just hand cocking with the stirrup.  Doensn't look too hard to pull as it's compound.

With the type I have they sell goat's foot cockers and I think cranks too if you buy something with a heavy draw.

You know, I had to put the AR in the background along with the G23. My 2 favorite guns! Oh and by the way, I don't make my bed, its easier to just jump right into it when I get sleepy.

I am a fan of Excalibur crossbows. No pulleys simpler to maintain.
