I get a call this morning from the FBI.  They had a question about a local shooting.  Wanted to know if I was a dealer.  Im quessing they pulled all this from my C&R.  They were looking for SKS or AK type rifles.

Told them I only hold a C&R not an FFL that allows me to sell and the only close rifles I could order with it would be C&R SKSs and Im not able to sell them due to it only being a C&R

Call me paranoid, but I wouldn't tell anyone that made a cold call to my house anything about the guns I own. Could be someone just posing as FBI to case your place to see what you have if they are thinking about stealing something.

I'd probably ask for the guy's ID and extension. Then look up the FBI's phone number on their website, call it, dial the extension and see if I got the same guy.

Glad you were awake enough to do that.

Why would the FBI, be contacting you about local shootings? I smell fish

A. Why would they call and ask? They would already know.
B. Why would they call you and "REmind you" about your limitations of your CR, They are not hte BATF.
C. How are they looking for rifles by callin you and asking if you have a CR? And if you had them that were purchased prior to your CR then what?

There is somthing else going on here that either you are not telling or they are not telling.

Read the post again.  They asked him about SKS/AKs.  He said his FFL was a C&R, and he could only buy a C&R SKS, and he couldn't sell it.  He told them his limitations, not the other way around.

This is like the beltway sniper case.  FBI gets a list of FFLs from ATF and calls them all trying to track down a gun.

After all, they are looking for anybody with Wolf Ammo....

Start answering the phone and door with "Hello, Do you have a warrant?"

Don't forget the bomb making materials. Anyone with any length of pipe, gun powder, nails, duct tape, electrical wire, batteries, glue, diesel fuel, fertilizer or matches laying around the house has "bomb making materials".

Oh yea, I forgot.
Taxman, do you have any outbuildings?
Shed, Outhouse, wood pile?
If so, you may qualify to have your property labeled as a "compound"
Do you live with another person?
If so, you may qualify as a cult leader.

I got all this stuff from the ATF/Media Relations handbook.
