| Does anyone know anything about what it takes to get a job with this agency? I am mentoring a young man who is very interested in working there. He is a good kid, good college, history major, no language skills, proficient with firearms, big but not especially tough. I would think they are looking for people. Any thoughts? Thanks. |

www.secretservice.gov/opportunities.shtml That's got a listing of all the different jobs you can do for the Secret Service and the requirements for all of them. |
| He will need an absolutely perfect background. No slight brushes with the law - even as a minor. The BI will go way back in his history. Proficiency with a firearm coming in is of no consequence. What is his degree in? Prior law enforcement or military experience? |
I think SHE may have had an easier time of it than your standard White Anglo Saxon Protestant Male |
I think they are one and the same. Only difference bing seniority (the ones with Presidential detail are senior i think). Don't quote me though. |
Uh, I would think they are DEFINITELY trained differently. Same academy and all, just different missions. Like the difference between Narcs and SWAT. |
| The Secret Service has a dual mission - to protect the President and other VIP's, and to hunt counterfeiters. An agent in the secret service will work in both types of assignments. The thinking is that the investigatory experience in the anti-counterfeiting role is useful in helping them in the protective role. |

Why would you want to? A lot of secret service guys end up being shoe shine guys for ex prezs, retired generals (4 Star and above), Statesmen, ect. ect until they die and family members under 19. Could you imagine having to put your life on the line for a Clinton or a Carter? If you want to be hooah and all that shit....Go SF, CIA or something IMHO |
