Where were you when you first heard that President Kennedy had been shot? |
|
my mom was in 11th grade, my dad was at the parade, just out of high school..... He saw Kennedy within the last 10 minutes of his life. My mom's brother claims he was in the Texas Theater in Oak Cliff when they caught Oswald, but he's a flake, so it may have been BS. I understand there weren't very many people in the theater at the time. |

Just a bit of trivia. I read recently that Johnny Cash was going to play in Dallas that night and cancelled the concert after the shooting. I haven't seen the movie that just came out on his early years (this weekend I will), so I don't know if this is mentioned in there or not. Edited to add more triva. Both C. S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley died November 22, 1963. Other notable deaths from other years but on Novemeber 22 include Robin Hood (1247); Edward "Blackbeard" Teach, English pirate, killed off Virginia coast (1718); Friedrich A Krupp, cannon manufacturer, commits suicide (1902); Jack London, author, dies at 40 (1916); Shemp Howard, actor (3 Stooges), dies at 60 (1955); Mae West, actress, dies in Hollywood at 87 (1980); Bill Bixby, actor, dies from cancer at 59 (1993); Mark Lenard, actor (Sarek-Star Trek), dies of cancer at 68 (1996); Michael Hutchence, rocker (INXS), commits suicide at 37 (1997); Mary Kay Ash, businesswoman, started a major cosmetics company, dies at 83 (2001). So now you know. Info from here. GL |
