I wasn't sure where to post this question, but since there seems to be a lot of hype about the price and availability regarding 5.7 ammo, I thought I would start this thread to help out those in search of this new (somewhat) type of ammo that is sure to soon become a high demand item:
I've heard about Fiochi and maybe some others who will be producing them. Does anyone have any CONCRETE information about who, what, & when this stuff will be produced and at what cost? Do we have any current arfcom dealers selling this stuff that would like to provide pricing for us? All I can find right now was a thread on the EE for $30/box of 50 from CMMG, and I honestly cant say that I've found it any cheaper, anywhere else. If you've got any other sources, please share with the rest of us. Everyone's talking about cheap 5.7 ammo but I cant seem to find any credible sources for these claims. It would be nice to know that prices are going down if they really are. Thanks. |

$16/box at www.midwayusa.com
I don't know if I should make it hot, so I'll just leave it cold. |
I just searched that site and 5.7 could not be found. |
Cheap 5.7mm...that's funny.
Until there is such a thing as Winchester White Box 5.7 or military surplus 5.7 you can get used to paying factory prices. A box of 20 rounds of .308 is $18.00 IF you buy factory ammo. Of course NOBODY here is gonna pay that because you can get milsurp. a hell of a lot cheaper. |
+1 We're ZERO for 3 right now. C'mon guys. There's gotta be some cheaper 5.7 ammo CURRENTLY AVAILABLE out there. Everyone is talking about it, so where is it? I'm really thinking about getting one of these firearms, but the ammo prices are keeping me at bay. Let's please try and only post of VERIFIED AMMO SOURCES here so that those of us who are interested can have a thread to come to. Thanks. |

Just trying to help, dude. It is only a month away fer chrissakes. |

Fiocchi ammo is supposed to hit the market by Christmas. Right now Gunbroker is your best bet. Or try some local dealers.
... smartest thing I ever did was selling my FN Five7. After the FN rep @ the SHOT Show confirmed to me that they were discontinuing SS192 ammo to civilians, I knew the weapon would just become the novelty that it now is.
Dude, you're a Johnny come lately to the 5.7. The cheap ammo was before the antigun people tried to demonize the gun and everyone and his brother started buying up SS192 to resell. Before that I could get 2200 rounds for $600~$699. or 13 to 15 bucks for a box of 50. You're not going to see cheaper stuff until the new ammo comes along. Blame the gun banners for making it a hot commodity |
That was the smartest thing you have ever done in your life? It's all downhill from there... I see no reason to sell my 5.7. If the ammo comes, it will be fun to shoot. If it doesn't, I'll stick it in the safe and have a cool piece in the collection; no harm done... |

Coming from Fiochi (eventually...) will be SS197 which will have superior ballistics to the reportedly anaemic SS196.
There is also the SS195 which is basically a lead free version of the SS192. Otherwise, it performs the same. It is available in fits and spurts. FN is trying, because they're about to release the PS90 to straighten out the ammo supply issues.
I still have 1 case of SS195 for $25.0 per box and I have a case of SS196 (yellow lable polymer tip) for $20.50 per box. Iwill be in the shop again on Tues at $10 am eastern time and can ship anywhere in the US. Will only ship in orders of 2 or more boxes.

Oh cool, they changed the rules and you can now advertise in GD without being a paid dealer or team member. I've got Glocks for sale on Sturmgewehr.com for $459.95. |

I think this is a great post... Maybe some of the shooters with copius amounts of 5.7 will release some to us have-nots. It is true that many have purchased this pistol believing they would become RESTRICTED and therefore rise dramaticaly in value. Unfortunately for them it looks like the FiveseveN is here to stay. The number of pistols available on the web and at shows has risen lately and the deals seem to be getting sweeter. Except for early variants this is not a rare piece.
My insider says "over 1,000,000 rounds to be released by end of year from Fiochi)... Speculation or fact the shortage will disapear eventualy. In any case there presently is a shortage and a sellers market but soon this will change. "So you may want to sell now" (The above is a thinly veiled attempt "please forgive me" to solicit ammo from others but if you do want to sell and beat the rush we will be watching the E-Exchange) |

DOH!! StyerAUG. Can I get the Shotgun news price on the glock grenades? |

$16.09 not bad |

Tag... been wanting to find some shopping options for this ammo in case I break down and get a PS90.
Anyone have any inside poop about amo companies starting to make this round a little more common and cheaper?
So does FN hold a patent or something on this ammo? Or could anyone ammo company make it? Also, on a side note, anyone ever load one of the P90 mags? Is it hard? easy? Awkward? |

Nope. It is the same price as before. DeadSled was quoting the dealer pricing (for those of us with FFLs or C&Rs ). |

what gives the ss192 its 'special' properties...and could it come back for use in the ps90?
I dont know, what? who told you its coming back? |
Great Idea! I get the second shot... |

I heard that Wolf will no longer be allowed in USA |
My 15 boxes of SS195 greeted me at the door today on my way to work. Caught some at Midway USA before they sold out. $15.99 a box.
I suppose you heard this from a very reliable source as well eh? |

Is the M855 projectile exempted by law (like M2) or does its construction comply with the the BATF?
If the latter, imagine the performance of a 40gr projectile with a partial core of steel as a penetrator with a traditional lead core at the base. That'd make the SS192 pee its pants. ETA: Y'know, I just discovered this describes the SS190 projectile down to the period at the end of the specifications. Disregard. |
ASS!!! |
Its true. I asked my phsycic about this since it was a hot topic and she confirmed it. She said wolf was no longer being produced for the US civilian market because NASA and LockheedMartin bought up all the US reserves so they can begin their intergalactic strike against an alien planet we're not supposed to know about. |

Sole reason I won't buy one of these is because of ammo prices. When it comes down to something close to 5.56/.223 then I will consider it again.
