| I watched the Notre Dame vs Navy game yesterday. After the game was won by ND an NBC reporter tried to interview Charile Weis shoving a mic in his face and asking about the game. Weis brushed him off and said not now we are are going over as a team and are going to help Navy sing it's alma mater. The Midshipmen showed the same respect by standing for the ND song. No taunting, jeering, flag planting what a relief from the other crap I saw watching other games. |
| There is quite a tradition between ND and Navy during WW2 .ND was on the verge of shutting down because of a lack of students then Navy set up a V12 Program at ND that kept the school open over 12000 Navy Officers graduated many of went into combat after graduation. |
I don't remember who posted it, but the quote was too good to let go. |
The Band of the Fighting Irish plays the visitors' fight song before the start of the game, and their Alma Mater after the game, regardless of who wins. Charlie Weis is a class act all his own.
Notre Dame has quite a few ties to the Navy: -Notre Dame has commissioned more naval officers than anywhere other than Annapolis. Pensacola might be getting close, but ND still commissions a few dozen Ensigns and 2ndLts every year. -The F/A-18 Super Hornets in the flyover at the start of the game were flown by Notre Dame grads. -Backup power on the ND campus (in case of SHTF -Notre Dame is one of only a few schools in the country that have full-contact intramural football in addition to an NCAA program. (The Service academies are the others). |

Do you know who's won it 12 out of the last 14 times? Hint it isn't Navy |
Sadaam Hussein ruled Iraq 12 of the last 14 years, but he isn't in charge now.

thats the thing i dont understand, ND graduates players, respects other teams traditions, and only looks for kids that have some sense of morals, with the exception that they must be able to read, while many teams will take anybody who can run, tackle, and throw, regardles of accademics, and regardless of preformence at school, robb, rape, assault, it doesnt matter at many universities, just as long as they can ball. yeah they have been insignificant in the past ten years or so, if people are sick of watching them on NBC, why not take out the frustration on the network, they are the ones that shove everything down you throats? oh well just a thought, |
