This is my 1000th post, and I figure I should make it meaningful.  I have gotten a lot from this site along the way, learned some useful information, met a lot of good people, enjoyed great times at various shooting events, competitions and dinners, and hopefully contributed something in one way or another to the site and to other shooters, especially new shooters.  So thank you all.

Today also happens to be Veterans Day.  We all remember Saving Private Ryan and how the film moved us, and the question was asked, something along the lines of, "Have I earned it?"  This one day is reserved for honoring those who have served and sacrified for all the freedoms we enjoy, and we must strive to live honorable and productive lives and earn the right to enjoy those freedoms for which others have sacrified for all of us.  Yet not only on this sacred day, but each and every day we should ask ourselves whether we have "earned it"...

All this probably goes without saying for most of us on this site, but nevertheless, I would like to issue a challenge to each and every AR15.com member.  Today and this entire weekend, please go out and show your gratitude and appreciation to a veteran.  Shake a hand, say "Thank you", buy a drink, buy a meal, let a veteran get in line, volunteer, give your seat, give your time, donate something to a worthy cause, whatever moves you.  Even the smallest gesture or kind word could make a difference you may never know.  There is no need to tell us what you did for the veterans, because you will know, and you are doing it for them, not for us.

So with this, AR15.com, go forth and let the challenge begin...

Why should today be any different from any other day?

If I know I'm talking to a vet, I usually find a way to say "thanks" no matter what day it is.

Great idea. I am not a vet. But for those who are ... My hat's off to you, and you will always have my sincere thanks. Stay safe
