I'm not too handy with a stitch and thread and was wondering if I would just by a piece of velcro and glue it to an embroidered patch.

Would this work?

What would be the best glue to use for this that would make it as permanent as possible?

It would work, just not for long.  Find a sewing shop and drop a couple of bucks.

Wouldn't work for long regardless of what kind of glue you use? Like if you used Gorilla Glue or PVC cement or something? Or do your risk dmaged the patch using some glues?

I haven't really experimented too much.  But the couple times I did met with very limited success.

Nope... just a "morale" patch that I want to put on my pack.

I've used those self adhesive velcro tabs (the ones with the super industrial sticky stuff). I haven't had a problem so far. Granted it's only been a month.

You can damage the patch with some glues.  They will bleed through and make it too stiff and/or stain.

Just take the patch and velcro to any nearby cleaner/alternations place or if you are at a military base then you can just to the "pick-up-point" and have it sewn.  Sometimes they will do it on the spot and other times you have to pick it up the following day.

Shouldn't run over $2.00  (usually free at the PUP)

Velcro glue works good.  but you will eventually pull the patch loose on an edge.   Much gooder to have it sewn around the edge also.

My wife has done band uniforms, drum major uniforms, and they have used a glue called E6000.  It is clear, rubbery, flexible.   This will glue the velcro to the back of the patch.  You will probably have to weight it down so it stays in good contact while drying.

Do not use the adhesive backed velcro, it won't stay on fabric.

Put the "hook" side on the patch, and the "loop" or fuzzy stuff on the uniform.  That will have to be sewn on.

Or just go to a uniform shop and have them sew it the way you want.
