Yesterday I went to the gun show in Grand Rapids.  There was some pretty interesting stuff, but it appears that the days of gun show bargains are over.

At one vendor's table there were a bunch of Colt ARs in no ban condition, one of which was a 6920.  Wanna guess what the "Gun Show Special" price was? $1900!    I just about fell to the floor laughing considering that you can find them new on the EE for about 12-1300, sometimes for less.  That was only the second gun show I've ever been to, and it appears that I wasn't missing much.

I did buy a new 20rd mag and a sight tool though, so it wasn't all a waste.

I wouldn't mind a colt, but for about 2,000 I'm not gonna take anything less than a Super SAM-R from MSTN.

And that 1900 was before anything like rails, optics, pistol grips, Vltors and what not, it was just bone stock.

The pontiac show is supposed to be a lot better.  I sure hope so.

At the recent Wanamacher in Tulsa a dealer had 6 of the NIB for 1,400 each and I though that was high.

For a stock AR from any company, I think anything over 1000 is probably too high.  And those rifles you do find for 1000 can typically be found elsewhere for less.

I think that I'm probably going to stick to building my own rifles.  Its alot more fun, and it can be less expensive.  I've got $994 into my build and that includes 4 mags and some n00b mistakes.  I hope to get an optic and replace my carry handle with an ARMS 40, and possibly get some rails.  That'll be about it, and my rifle will still have cost me less than that bone stock 6920.

I was there too and heard a lot of dealers saying that they could not drop prices because Wannenmacher was gouging them on the table fees, $100 per table and up...

That's pretty bad, but I've seen much much worse at gun shows.

Colt 6721  for 2250

Boresnakes for 18.95

Glocks for 699

Ruby-eyed dragon sword (real rubies?!?!?) 29.95

Gun shows are very hit or miss.

LOL, I heard the same thing.  With their asking prices they could sell one gun and make enough money to pay for their damn table.

I received an email from a friend and sometimes shooting partner, who told me that a couple of weeks ago, he bought a new 6920 at a local gunshow from Bachman's. The price? $1029.00. In the grand scheme of things, still probably overpriced, but the best deal on a new one I've seen anywhere in a while.

Bachman's Pawn and gun does have some pretty good prices.  Catch them on Gunbroker at the right time and you'll see what I mean

Used first gen glock 19 for $499!

WASRs for $650!

Winchester M855 case $440
What a deal!

Hell, you should see a CA gunshow.  Where the heck are all the guns?

It's just MREs, Nazi repro stuff and Toledo swords.

I've found over the years the best deals are with ppl. walking around on their own, not table holders, regardless if the table holder is a dealer or "private"...
