Just wanted to pass on a note about another safety issue. I and my 23 year old daughter attended a large shoot this last weekend. We were there only about 30 minutes. While the shoot was going well and everyone having a good time I noticed a small fire burning in the middle of the shoot. Folks were using this small fire to burn empty ammo boxes. I was a bit leary of this but as a new kid on the block didn't say anything. Sure enough as I was loading about 5 feet from the fireon a table a round went off from the fire. Most certainly someone had discarded a box with a round still in it. My daughter was standing right next to the fire and took the pieces in the leg and butt. She will be ok but has a hell of a sore leg. punctured thru jeans and skin but luckily didn't penatrate. X-rays were negative. As fall and winter approaching a fire sometimes feels pretty good. I would just not allow "empties" to be burned in the middle of a shoot. Smaller kids are always attracted to a fire like this and if that were the case here this may have had a very tragic ending. I just wanted to pass this along to warn you all about a safety issue that not everyone would think about. I sure will from now on. Blackgun |
