| This may be off track, but I'm dying of curiosity. Anyone know what's happening with the Colt Bolt rifles. First they were announced with much fanfare, then they became "Limited Editions", now I hear that they have been discontinued, and even that Colt has let the factory go back to the original developer. They appear to be a good buy for the money. The Colt site has nothing, not even info on the rifles. Any guesses, rumors, opinions? |

Colt bought the rights from Melvin Forbes for the Ultralight rifle design. Then they didn't pay him royalties or something. Additionally, I hear that they were supposed to employ his son (or in-law) and laid him off. Can you say "litigation"? I saw a few Colt rifles in .270 last week and that's apparently all there will be. Got this from gun shop rumor control, if I find out anything different from a friend in the business I'll let y'all know. Rick |
| They aren't very nice either. The wholesale price on them is under 400 bucks, and that is high IMO. They look like they were made by Savage. Very unimpressive and not very light weight at 6.75 lbs. I've neer seen an original Forbes rifle, but the Colt is a real stinker. |
