I'm using mapsource versions 6.8 and beta 6.902. I can't find the interface for live updates from the GPS. It used to be a selection and you could use the GPS while hooked up. Is it gone or am I a Moron for overlooking the obvious.

As far as I know you can still do it.  Not sure what version of mapsource I'm running, but I use my legend with my laptop all the time.  I just plug in the cable and I'm good to go.

Perhaps try the forums at www.geocaching.com.  The people there are extremely more informed and educated in the GPS units and upgrades than anyone should be, much like we here are with firearms.

Nope, they took the live update feature out of Mapsource.

They want you to use some other program, (forgot the name) for that now.

I updated on my home PC, but left old version on my laptop for that reason.

Well that just sucks. I guess it pays to hold on to old versions of software. You never know what they are going to take away.

The other program is called Nroute. I didn't find it to work too well with either of my Garmins. I've got a V and a 60cs.

Thanks

I'm running mapsource 6.8.0 with city select north america 7.0.

To check for updates I click on help and then click on check for software updates and that's it.
