Well, I just started my new job as an EMT @ 6.09/hr , which is much less than the $10.15 I was making at the grocery store.  However this new job I will have MUCHO overtime, so it all evens out in the end.

OK, I'm going to stop bitching about my salary. This guy
might be called on to save my life one day and he is getting
a small fraction of what I make. People like to say it is not
what you do, but knowing how to do it that you get
paid for. Well, Zoot might now know how to code a client-
server app, but I don't have a clue on what to do it some
old lady's ticker gives out.

Which is more important in the long run?

I got a 3% raise in January and a 3% raise in June. Not the greatest but not the worse either. The Raise in January was an extra one.

Holy Hell Zoot!  EMTs make barely above minimum wage?

Come to think of it though I have never asked what they get around here- I know Rural-Metro is always losing people to the Cities though..

I just got a 33 percent raise- from 9.96 to 13.20.  And that is base pay, I get a  13% sift differential for working graveyard.

1%.  I'm told I'm at the top pay scale within my rating.

I have a job interview with another company this Friday.

I am up for my much belated 3 month, 6 month, and possibly year review(yes, 3 reviews) which total at least 3% raise for one of them if they follow through.

On the other hand, if I get the job I am currently going for I could get a 200% raise from my current rate. That would own ass.

I got a new job that has health benifits with it so I don't have to pay out of pocket any more.  This results in a 11% raise for me.  Assuming I do my job well I will be getting another raise this comming summer.

Minimum wage in NJ went up one dollar.

I'll be making 8.50 now at my secondary job..

I went from $10 to $13 an hour (with benefits) last month though... government jobs can be great.
