I'm thinking about buying an Aimpoint with the 3x mag in the near future. I have never used an Aimpoint and have no idea if I will like one or not.
Do you think buying one of those cheap fake ones on ebay for $50 would give me a feel on what one would be like before I spend the big bucks? I'm not planning on using a cheap one, but just want to get a feel on the sight picture and using a red dot sight.

If you just wanting to get a feel for a red dot, just get a $30 BSA.

Just buy a cheap $30 red dot from Wal-Mart, no need for it to be an Aimpoint clone.

Then, if you like it, get the Aimpoint (or EOTech).

Edit: Damn, beat by Absolut.

Has anyone bought one of these? Did it do what it advertised?
YOu can't expect much for $50, but woudl it be worth it to get one and try it for a few weeks before buying the real deal?

Just like Sniper and Absolut said... buy you a BSA red dot and see how you like it.

The construction is cheap yadda yadda, but just look at the basic principles.

I bought one... liked it but wanted something heavier duty so I bought an M3.
