I open the doors to buildings for my wife and other women almost all the time and have never had a bad word said. I often open the car door for my wife unless my hands are full and have had many women comment that they wished their husbands would do it for them sometimes.

I once heard a joke that guys only open car doors for women when it's a new car or a new girl.  I've been married over 8 years and still open the car door for my wife, 90% of the time anyways.  Sometimes she doesn't wait for me when I'm locking the front door.

Me too,  (only 5 yrs though) and I still try to open doors for her everywhere we go.

I have always opened the door for my wife, even when we were dating.

I open all other doors for her too.  Weather it is for a resturant, store or whetever.

Do it for my mother and mother-in-law too.

Nah, didn't sound bad.  Point being that lots of things happen whilst dating that seem to wane.

Opening a car door is a gentlemenly thing to do, but it defintely doesn't make one a Gentleman.  My neighbor in NJ barely let his wife walk...opening doors, carrying in all the groceries, honey this, yes maam that...blah, blah, blah....the perfect gentleman..textbook.  Left this wife and kid for another women, an affair apparently.....REAL GENTLEMEN.   Appearances are a wonderful thing but there are whole hell of a lot more, way beyond car door opening,  daily flower baths, as indicators of class, caring, good upbringing and respect to define a gentleman.  Opeining a car door LOOKS good, but it doesn't necessarily mean shit, and vice versa.

edit for late night spelling

25+ yrs & I do as much a possible.

I also do it for the ladies I work with, strangers in public and even less than able body men.

I've never received a harsh word from anyone about it.  Young ladies, less than 25yrs old may seem a bit confused at first, but it sinks in after a few seconds.

Gents, you are missing a great thing if you do not take time to hold the door for an elderly lady.  The smile on her face will make your day.

I offer this challenge to any guy in his 20's, hold the door for any older lady & see if you do not receive a smile & thank you.

I have been married for over three years.  I open the car door for my wife about as much as I did in the three years I knew her before we got married.  It isn't that often - maybe one time in 8 or 1 in 10 - but it is about the same as when I first met her.

I always open the door for women.

A couple times, I've gotten a reaction that indicates that no one has ever done that before, i.e., they didn't understand what was happening. Kind of sad.
