I suspect it will be stronger than that when it hits. There are currently nine computer models for its path and strength. There is a link to it off of Drudge. |

North side of Austin.
I'm not expecting more than thunderstorms this far inland, though we are just about dead center in the projected path. |
Be careful! |
I'm here in Houston, 290 & Beltway 8 area. My mom and sister are out in Dayton Texas (East of Houston by about 30 miles) My sister is trying to get here so we can head to Austin, but my stubborn old mother is not budging.
I'm looking to leave sometime tomorrow. I have just enough gas to get to Austin. |
Don't be so sure bub... Imagine a severe thunderstorm that lasts 10 hours. Regular pop up thunderstorms are merciful as they come an go quickly. Wind and saturated soil around tree roots are a massive problem. However, I'm not sure how forested your part of Texas is... |

New Braunfels, Just hope the power isnt a real issue, cause I live in an appartment and dont have a generator!
Travis |
175 mph winds, 200 mph gusts -- don't count on this being like a thunderstorm when it gets to Austin. At a minimum, it will be a Cat 1.
The latest model runs are trending back north toward Houston, looking like a worst case scenario passing just west of the city (over Katy) and plastering the I45 corridor with the strongest part of the storm.
I'm having second thoughts about riding this one out. |
Get out of dodge. Houston is going to get trashed. |
My parents are in League City, I have an uncle in Spring. Is Spring safe?
Thanks, deej....I'm actually thinking about getting out after midnight. The traffic is jammed all over town getting out, and I'm just waiting until 3am or so to get the girls up and GTFO. This is one bad storm, buddy. HH |

All my family is in either Houston, or Freeport/Lake Jackson area. They areall bugging out RTF now.
I just hop ethey have homes to go back to. |
New Braunfels; we won't even get the day off. A guy who owns a roofing company lives down the street was smiling ear to ear when I saw him this afternoon.
Corpus Christi / Calallen. Looks like we'll be on the fringe of the dry side.
200??? Try a little over 100. |

Beeville here, getting the house ready still. Gonna be working all weekend (and the next and the next...) if this bitch don't turn when it's supposed to
Breacher |

Austin, out near Lake Travis. No chance of flooding here, but I'm expecting and prepared for power outages.
Austin Tx, supposed to get wet, and hopefully hone my looter shooting skills.
Spring isn't looking too good with the current storm track prediction. |
Austin here...anyone from Houston needing a place to stay, im me...
just got home from Port A, where there is a mandatory evacuation. the traffic wasn't bad on SH181 but I heard it was on IH37 into SA. every other vehicle was a truck w/boat or RV, and I saw quite a few stuck w/problems on the side of the road, not a good place to be after dark.
folks I'd take this storm seriously, this is a big one! |
I'm in Bastrop, 30 mi east of Austin, my wifes sons are coming in from Houston, one left Houston at 3:00 and didn't get to the house until after 10:00. The other is planning on leaving at 3:00 AM. He might make it by noon.
I'm in Austin now and I'm seeing gas (reg) running out in several places, the supermarket shelves are getting real thin. We've got another house in Marble Falls that's looking real interesting right now. |
San Antonio... everyone here is freaking out, and I'm not sure why or if we should be; I'm guessing all we'd get is a thunderstorm, and perhaps a power outage, but nothing serious. Are people coming this way or something? Two of the WalMart Supercenters I just checked out were fresh out of water.
ETA: We were at my fiance's house just outside SA. When we got there for dinner around 8, gas was $2.57 at the local Exxon. At 10 when we left, it was $2.69 |

From a little area called Freddiesville between Bayou Vista and Hitchcock right across the Causeway from Galveston. Not expecting to go back to much.... I just pray we still have a house to go back to. We left at noon today and arrived in Austin at 9:00 tonight. Came up through Eagle Lake and Columbus, once we got through E.L. traffic really thinned out and we made good time.

I live in Katy which is 25 miles west of Houston. My wife and daughter have already bugged out to Dallas to stay with family.

It is now turning back toward the west, straight toward Houston. CNN weather guy is explaining that the front that caused it to turn more northly has petered out or something.

Round Rock here - NOAA shows I have a 30% chance of rain this weekend.
My prayers to those of you in the path. |

My coonass grandpa lives in Nederland. He's OK from what I hear. They evac'd pretty late, trying to head up to a friend's ranch. Aside from a close call w/ a Texas Twister, they were fine. He apparently went for a walk around the ranch house during Passover.* Not 100% convinced of the accuracy of that report; it's from my mom. Jake. * referring to when the eye passes over an area. |
I've prolly driven down Vineyard Street 1,000 times, but I've never actually *heard* of it 'til now. He don' live nowheres near there, though, so it's all good. Jake. P.S. Why couldn't they give it a good name, like "Brewery Row" or "Liquor Store Lane?" What kind of sissies/Frenchmen drink wine, anyway? |
