When I took undergrad statistics, we had a Korean professor who was completely unintelligeble. Worst thing was, he'd be offended and get furious if people didn't understand him.  What a complete asshole.It took me most of the semester before I realized that the "Sea Squirrels" he was talking about were in fact standardized "Z Scores" |
I've observed the same thing. They get pissed off when you can't understand them, as though its your fault. You'd think someone hard working enough to secure a tenured professor job at a big university would have enough pride in or care for her teaching work to spend a little time studying english grammar and pronunciation. Do these people publish papers in english language journals? If so they must have grad students write the text for them. I think all public schools should make passing a tough english speaking and pronunciation test a requirement for these clowns to get hired. |
