If you try to fly out of NY with a handgun they will check to see if you have a permit, if you don't they will arrest you.

What ever happened to the case about three years ago where the cops in NY arrested a guy for not having his permit in a NY airport when they shouldn't have?  The man was traveling from (IIRC) Vermont to Florida, and was boarding a plane in an airport in NY.  Federal law protects you when traveling through states as long as the firearm is legal at your source and at the destination.  I remember it because several cops posted here that they thought the guy should get jail time for having a handgun despite the federal law.z
