This is a great idea! (wish I'd thought of it) A friend saw it in the latest Soldier of Fortune mag. projectboresnake.org/ |
Bore snakes are okay for getting major crud, but if you've cleaned a gun after using a bore snake you know it doesn't really do what a real cleaning job does. If a grunt has to clean his weapon, it gets done. Will it make a difference in the sandbox? Dunno. But, the intention is good, so more power to 'em. |

The $50 serves four soldiers. From their FAQ... What exactly does each nominee receive? Four "Bore Snake Kits". One for the nominee and three "Snake Kits" for others in his unit. What is in a "Bore Snake Kit"? - 1 ea. Hoppe's 5.56mm Cal. Bore Snake (for M16/M4 series weapons) - 1 ea. Hoppe's 9mm Cal. Bore Snake (for M92 sidearm) - 1 ea. 2 oz. container of Hoppe's EliteĀ® Solvent - 1 ea. 2 oz. container of Hoppe's EliteĀ® Lube (non-petroleum-based oil) And from the "Lear More" page... We expect to ship 4 "Snake Kits" as a complete package to each solder designated on our site via the Identify a Serviceman page. The soldier may then distribute kits to three fellow soldiers. Your $50.00 donation will send one complete package. Can anyone here buy 8 bore snakes plus 4 sets of solvent and oil for $50? I can't. Just point me to that store and I'll stock up myself! |
