Rented a few DVD's tonight for the the family to watch this weekend, and when I attempted to play them, I had a horizontal line thru the bottom of the screen as well as a very dark picture.   Tried some known good dvds that played just fine.   Went out and bought a new dvd player and have the same results.   Currently my dvd player plugs into the back of my VCR (4 days old as well)  and the vcr is connected to the tv via a coaxial cable (only input on it).    What is with the screen jitter?   It reminds me of when the tracking would go off on a vhs tape.   Anyone have any experiences with or like this?

It's because of hte macrovision built into the DVD player.  It can "sense" the dvd player being plugged into some type of recordable system.  (I'm sure someone will come through with a more technical diagnosis)

Get a RF modulator and that should solve your problem.

Or get a DVD Writer and DVD Shrink and make copies without the Macro.
