That's pretty sweet actually. I used to mod my old case with my dremel to cool it for overclocking. I didn't buy a new computer because dremeling is free minus cutting wheels. I finally broke down and bought a newer half way decent case from newegg.com with a bunch of fans and fan controller already in it. It works pretty well, it’s a tiny bit noisy with all the fans turned up at max, but it’s mostly the squirrel cage fan on my CPU. All I've done to this one is cut the fan grills out for better airflow/less noise. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811144089 |
It's like people who customise cars or other stuff. He does it because he can. Sure, he could just buy a cheap-ass case just like everyone else does, but he wouldn't have something that's genuinely unique in the end. I get the impression that it will be used as a display item at an electronics trade show at some stage, like his previous case project was. I know of someone here in Australia who's scratch building a PC case out of laser cut sheet metal in the shape of a Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer. No CNC work like the other one. Imperator PC case It's 44 inches long, 12 inches high and a little over 16 inches wide. It's not finished yet but he's doing the exterior detailing now and has wired it with fibre optics to make various windows/portholes/whaterver light up. |
