What what is the purpose of the contours on M4 bbl's?  Does it help with cooling the bbl or does is it just to make it look cool?

the notch is to allow mounting of an M203 grenade launcher.  it is lightened under the handguard for lower weight(same as with an M16)

in other words its useless. that is unlesss you want to tote around a 37mm flare launcher.

someone needs to mount a 1911 on it.

it would make double taps more impressive.

never mind that, think about it!  an M4gery and a 1911 in one package! it would be more accuacy and lethality than one person should be able to weild!
