Notice:This thread is for the main purpose of seeing if there is intrest. I would have to check with the staff before anything is set in stone. Anyone intrested in print trading of your favorite photograph? I know there is a lot of talent here and it would be a fun and cheap way to show off your work. I will be out of town for the rest of the week starting tonight and again next week so it will not be soon. |
I am thinking your favorite or give the person some choices. It can be something that you and the person that you are trading with. I am thinking drawing two names out of a hat and they are a pair. |

Yeah, set up some parameters. I don't have a DSLR yet but I've got some stuff I'm really happy with from my other cameras. I print up to 12x18" on my Epson Photo 1200 or I could print up to whatever Sam's Club Fuji processor prints at (those are some realy cool prints- real photographic process from digital cameras). |

I am thinking of baseing off of: home.comcast.net/~seaskate/index_files/Page361.htm I will edit this with an edited list. 1. Size: The shortest dimension should be approximately 8 inches (approximately 20cm). This rule is somewhat flexible as prints may be trimmed with slight variations. Please abide by the spirit of the rule however and keep prints close to this minimum size. 8 Inch square prints are allowed. 2. Type: B&W or Color is acceptable. Prints may be produced by the individual, a lab, or via archival inkjet. question regarding their archival properties. Further, they are so inexpensive nowadays that there is little reason to use inkjet. However, if you feel your work is best represented by printing on your personal archival inkjet, by all means feel free to participate. 3. Mounts: There is no requirement to mount prints in this swap. However, mounted prints are not prohibited. 4. Scope: This swap is international in scope. PLEASE NOTE this means you may be paired with a participant in another country. This may make postage more expensive, but international postage is really insignificant for prints the size in question. If you do not want to ship internationally, DO NOT participate. 5. Pairing: Pairing of swap partners will be by the luck of the draw. All participants names will be put in a hat and drawn out one at a time. Names will be paired up as they are drawn. You will be notified via will be up to the participants to swap addresses and perform all necessary communications to ensure a smooth swap. 6. Camera: a rangefinder camera. 7. Deadline: Once you are notified, via email and/or on the forum, that your partner has been determined, you have 2 weeks to ship the print. This is a hard and fast rule and if you cannot make the deadline, do not sign up for the swap. This can change between you and your partner. Also input is welcome! 8. Picture Information: One of the most interesting aspects of a swap like this is the exchange of information regarding the shot. Please include with your photo a description of the events surrounding the taking of the shot and any further data that you may have recorded. Technical data (camera, lighting, metering, etc.) is encouraged but not required Optional, but encouraged. 9. Signing The Print: Standard artists protocol applies. They are: If the print is mounted, date and sign on the mount below the lower right corner (facing the print). If the photo has a title, it goes below the lower left corner of the print. If the print is unmounted, sign in the lower border, just as you would if mounted. If there is no border, sign the back. (The use of Sharpie ink markers and Gel pens is considered bad form and amateurish in art markets. With today’s resin coated papers, however, the thin line Sharpie Marker may be used discretely on the back of a print, but not in an area in which it would show through.) 10. The Last Rule: You are hereby required to derive fun and enjoyment doing this. :) |

How about setting up a database site with categories, showing thumbnails, then you can search by keywords and download the image? All for free, charge for somebody wanting to hotlink (like a membership for "hotlink rights")? Or were you looking for "Print" Prints? |
I have used snapfish.com before with good results. Walmart should be able to give you a form to sign off that they are your pictures. |
why wont wally world print? i missed your discussion. |
I'm basically banned from wally world photo department, as they will not print any "professional" photographs. "Professional" being how good the photos look to the manager... and since I've repeatedly attempted to have prints made of "professional" photos (my own pics), they will no longer print anything for me. Maybe I should be flattered but I'm pretty ticked at the idiocy. |
what a bunch of morons. |
No, but posting it might subject my work to piracy. Since the work is in my book, that wouldn't be good. DaddyDett |
Suit yourself, but we are talking prints. That will be in the final copy of the rules. |
