Hefeweizen. Don't laugh--the yeast in it is full of B vitamins. I have never had a hangover from drinking homebrewed beer--the yeasties are good. And as horrible as it sounds, the hair of the dog that bit you is effective as well..... GT Hungover at a machine gun shoot once....oh my aching head..... |
Well I usually do not drink in such excess but that homemade wine bit me on the arse. I did take my dogs for their run [I usually run with them but walked instead] and that did help. I ate a scrambled egg because my sugar level is so high right now [which only adds to my nausea] but I didn't keep it down. Patty |

Horseradish works. Lots and lots of water. Aspirin, or something else that won't damage the liver (I think Advil can damage the liver after a long night drinking...) Hair of the dog does work...a shot or so, wait 20 minutes, usually the hangover is gone (it also helps if you drink three metric tons of water in that 20 minutes..) Or you can head the whole thing off at the pass...the night before/while you are drinking, pound some Gatorade or other rehydrating drink (like water) before drinking. It should soften any hangover the next morning. Failing all that...pop some aspirin, take a nap. 30 minutes of sleep should cure ya |

Hair of the dog. All of the cells in your body are going through alcohol withdrawal. They're screaming for more booze. Just pour a bunch more booze into your mouth and your body will calm down. Unfortunately, the main side effect of this "cure" is that you can easily turn into a full-blown alcoholic if you use it enough. |

Lots of water for rehydration, and Tylenol (or Advil or asprin, etc.) for the headache. Medical oxygen really helps if you've access to it; it really helped to save my ass several times when I was in the military ever so many years ago. (I think the only thing worse than reporting for duty drunk was reporting for duty really hung-over..... YMMV however...) One thing I learned long ago, drinking anything alcoholic with a sugar based mixer was just asking for misery; the sugar just helps dehydrate you all that much faster. Once I learned to use water or soda instead of 7-up or Coke for mixing drinks my hangovers became far less severe and fewer in occurance. Now I just drink shots neat with good booze, and use water or soda as mixers with cheaper brands of scotch or bourbon. As for hangover pre-planning, after a night of heavy beer drinking I used to drink 5 - 6 glasses of water and take a couple of aspirin before going to bed. Getting up to piss in the middle of the night was miserable, but the hangover the next morning was more bearable and easier to live with. Again, YMMV.............. |
I agree with the Mexacan food in general. Not just menudo. I used to eat chili verde or machaca the next morning for breakfast. (gave up drinking almost 19 years ago) |
