Around here people often place their flag bracket on the left side of the garage or near the front door if that makes for a better mounting location. Are there any standard rules as to how high off the gound the flag bracket should be placed? I was thinking six feet would make sense. Is that too high?

I would think as long as the flag does not touch the ground but I was never a boy scout

not sure about a bracket mount, but a pole is to be 4 times as tall or taller, as the flag is long.....

That for a vertical pole.  A pole at an angle like the poster is asking about doesn't have to be nearly that long.

Yeah, otherwise it'd be in your neighbor's yard.....

I get no complaints about the size of my pole.

But, then again, I'm married so it's pretty much always in storage.

IIRC, as long as the flag doesn't touch the ground it can be at any height, though I would probably shoot for having the bottom corner of the flag a little over 6' high, especially if the flag will be over the walkway into your house.  This way it won't have to be pushed out of the way when someone comes to your door.

My flag is located in roughly the same position, and I have it mounted about 5 feet up.

I see, a little above 6' so an average person doesn't walk into it. Makes sense.
