I seem to have downloaded some spyware or adware my computer programs can not get rid of.  I get a ton of popups.  I have Spyware Search and Destroy, Spyware Blaster, and Ad-Aware 6.  I did have the google and Yahoo toolbars but those seem to be missing also.  I have ran all 3 anti programs at least once and am currently running defrag.  I also deleted everything that had a 6/28/05 download date, I think I got it all.

How do I get this shit off my computer?
The most common popup says something about aroura part of the ABI network.
I was on the Torrent site on my P&T Bullshit topic when this happened.

NOTICE ABOUT POP UP WINDOWS CALLED ABI NETWORK

We have been swamped by people complaining about having a lot of popup windows appear on their computer without their request.

The description "...part of the ABI Network" or something similar appears in the title bar of these annoying popup windows.

We at the Toronto ABI Network have absolutely nothing to do with these popup windows.

The company that is causing this situation has a product they happen to call ABI Network. Otherwise, there is absolutely no connection between these popup windows and us.

Many people have offered us advice and suggestions. We thank them.

Advice from concerned individuals and our own research has brought us to conclude that this problem is caused by a product or service called "A Better Internet" which is a division of a company called Direct Revenue. You can visit the website for this product at www.abetterinternet.com.

There are free tools available on the Internet which claim to remove this problem from your computer.

Please do some research on the Internet using Google or some other search engine to find out the real cause of your problem.

We sincerely appreciate how frustrating you may find this situation to be and wish you good luck in resolving your problem.

Thanks,
Robert Jessop
Communications/Data Coordinator

Try the 30-day free trial of Trojan Hunter, available here:  www.misec.net/

Manually download the latest definitions, and  unzip them in the folder with the older defs. When the system asks if you want to replace such and such files, say yes.

Run it, and report back.

I HAD PROBLEMS WITH POP UPS A WHILE BACK. THE FIX THAT I FOUND WAS A COMBINATION OF: WINDOW WASHER (FROM WEBROOT), AD-AWARE, ANTIVIR PERSONAL EDITION (www.free-av.com), AND SPYWARE DOCTOR. I HAD A PROBLEM PRIMARILY WITH THE ELITE TOOLBAR SO I ALSO TRIED: ELITE TOOLBAR REMOVER (simplytech.it). THE WINDOW WASHER I PAID FOR, BUT I THINK ALL THE OTHERS ARE FREE. EACH ONE TOOK A LITTLE SOMETHING OUT WHICH WAS BAD. HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE USING THESE. HOPE IT HELPS

Ever since switching to Firefox I can honestly say I have not had a problem with pop ups or spywarre. I run Adaware and Spybot and it find either nothing, or only one or two harmless files. When I used Ie, It found dozens each time.
