I guess this is proof of an active year.

I was at Sam's club today and everyone had a generator. I guess nobody here is taking it lightly.

These things have a habit of turning nasty on you when you don't expect it.

IIRC, Ivan was supposed to hit southern Florida...'cept nobody told Ivan.

However, seeing as how folks are taking it seriously, I predict that it will fizzle into an afternoon shower.

You don't know that HALF of it!

I'm driving from Raleigh to Texas right now, and am SMACK in the middle of that swath!

I dodged all four hurricanes last year. Drove through TWO of them.

Oh, and to add insult to injury, this POS storm is named after my ex-wife!

Don't mind me! I'm the Hurricane God!

This storm should be a mild TS. The Gulf water is only 82 degrees.
Canes' love that 90 degree bath water.
Lets talk in Aug/ Sept when we get bitch slapped again.

I am sitting here right now in the Alachua County Emergency Operations Center in Gainesville.  The good news is that this time, it looks like we get to miss the real nasty stuff, but everyone sure is taking things pretty seriously right now!

We are a level 3 activation (basically, a wait and watch mode).

Here is our EOC webcam:

I am just about out of the office. We have sealed all paperwork and equipment up, including our fleet vehicles. The evacuation order was given for south of Gulf Beach Hwy., which was the worst hit.

I just pray for all the people in our trailers.

I have been sent home to await a call down by FEMA. Sunday we are to assess the damage. I already have people housed in our FEMA trailers calling me. It is going to be a long weekend.

Thanks, Man. I am digging the due North track right now. This thing goes East of us and we are good to go.

Your parents squared away?

Even if we got it hard the big problem will be our low areas, Mag Springs, Fish River, BonSecour and the like. Orange beach will be good to go inland...

We'll see!

I havn`t fully recovered from Ivan yet lol. If i ever have to replace my roof & ceilings again i`m going to be pissed. ( I shouldn`t complain some lost everything, including their lives) Doubt it will be anything like Ivan but should be a good storm, and you never know who is going to get the tornados it throws off..

This one "might" become a Cat 1 Hurricane.

Floridians go shopping for groceries in those.

It's the Cat 3s and above that make me nervous.

I remember evacuating Chatham County (Savannah) a few years ago for Hurricane Floyd.  Not much fun.

At least being up in Barrow County (NE of Atlanta), I don't have to worry TOO much about these things.

All secure here.  I also had to take care of my folks house this morning.  They're out of town.  I don't think it's going to get very bad here in Ft. Walton.  Good luck everyone.

Work just called. We start disaster assessment of all government property in the panhandle (travel trailers and mobile homes). At least it is overtime . I tried getting a shoot together last fall, but Hurricane Ivan blew that idea out of the water. I am game for a get together in the near future.
