If someone from another country asked you your opinion of Jessica Lynch, what would you say? |
"Coward" is another. Seriously, throwing your arms down in front of the enemy when you have fellow soldiers who, for all you know, were still alive; what else can it be called. |
|
Really? If someone from france asked you about Jessica, you'd insult her? If someone in the military asked my opinion, I'd say something sexually deragatory. If someone who is a civilian inquired, I'd mention her tactical wherewithal. If someone from another country asked, I'd say she was a hero. *sigh* |
Huh... when did she throw down anything... she was in a wreck and busted up? Are you or have you been deployed? I would serious rethink calling her a coward while sitting in my chair at home. |
And when and where were you deployed again? Or are you just fixing keyboard and attacking someone who was. |
|
All of the chairborn rangers here with couch assault training and expert Airsoft qualifications must really know something other than what was in the official report. PFC Lynch was injured beyond any ability to fight in the collision of the HMMWV in which she was a non-restrained passenger. Other members of the 507th engaged the enemy after their vehicles were disabled. ITS FUCKING BRILLIANT HOW ALL THE EXPERTS HERE RENDER JUDGEMENT WITHOUT THE FACTS. One CANNOT engage the enemy when they are the 5th passenger in a HMMWV. Basically, she was riding on top of the engine/transmission tunnel cover. hmm... I thought the order the different stories from the pentagon went: 1) she went rambo on their asses with advanced knee injuries, and proceeded to run out of ammo. they then said: 2) she got out of the wreck with her gun, and when she saw the insurgents, she threw down her weapon, got on her knees and started to cry while praying. are you saying there is a third version? |

Correct. You and dpmmn are spot on. She never craved the attention she received yet attempted to manage it in the most professional way her 19 year old mind could fathom. I applaud her efforts and I am thankful for her service. |
Sounds like you need to switch to decaf |
Whenever I see a statement like that, I can't help but note that it's an easy thing to say from behind a keyboard. Do you have a background that gives you such realistic insight into yourself, or are you simply assuming that you'd be a hero? |
So... Because the Pentagon screwed up what happen how does this distract for the fact she did her duty and served in Iraq, was injured beyond the ability to fight, and was taken prisoner. How does this make her a coward? And when and where were you deployed and what qualifies you to piss on her service. I am saying you and some posting in this tread should be ashamed. |
|
Hooah. Thanks, Keith_J. |
|
I remember her version of the account, when asked about reports of her fighting until she ran out of ammunition, went like this "My gun jammed before I could fire a shot and I just dropped it and started praying." So I don't know if I've seen her do anything that would piss me off personally, but I can say this. 1.) She obviously wasn't terribly injured in the accident 2.) She was just scared, like most of us would be 3.) But I would be pissed as hell if I were fighting like crazy for my life, and I saw some soldier next to me praying, with their rifle on the ground. |
So, you don't have an opinion?
|
Bah! It depends on who's asking. I'm sure you know the drill among peers. |
You do not know what you are talking about. If fractures to her right arm, both legs, and her right foot and ankle along with back injuries is not “terribly injured” what the fu*k is? DO YOU GET IT… BOTH LEGS BROKE and RIGHT ARM BROKE. And you expect her to fight back… how exactly? When was the last time you suffered 3 broken limbs? Where and when were you deployed? |
Take your chill tablet, there were HER words. mmkay? ETA- last time I broke 3 limbs it was actually FOUR limbs and a jaw, I hope that counts. |
I second that. She was knocked out and woke in a fucking hospital!
|
You're a man of good words S_B!! |
She NEVER said any such thing. She never had a chance to fire a shot, she was severely injured it a wreck and was NEVER in the fight. You do not know what you are talking about. |
|
Watching her on Extreme Home Makeover a few weeks ago, she came through to me as someone I could be proud of. She was well spoken, respectful and humble. She also wanted to keep her promise and take care of her dead friends family. That says a lot about the character of Pfc Lynch. Her 15 minutes of fame were neither asked for, nor desired. She was put in harms way and then under the microscope. She did better than 99% of the worthless teenagers I see daily. While I don't see her as a warrior, I do see her as being valuble for the morale of other soldiers and the US public who loves a good story. She's also very cute. |
You are correct. Those words were not hers. It was put in by an author trying to build up a token female warrior. Liberals beleive everything they hear though. |
Correct! Her gun was jammed while in the vehicle and couldn't shoot back. Then awoke in a hospital. |
|
She served. Much more than can be said about many here. She was led into an unintended battle. An ambush most accurately describes the situation. She was taken out of action early in the battle, suffering injuries that were more than enough to grant her a medical discharge. ANY person that serves under such conditions is a hero in my book. Her heroism arises from her will to live and face the media as such a soldier. Yes, she was a soldier. |
Whaddya mean? Remember that knight in the Holy Grail? He kept fighting even with all of his arms and legs cut off! He tried to bite a guy! |
Sure she is a hero, just the same as all those who have served. Thats more than I have done for my country. It was the media who blew the story up, which is now causing some undeserved ill feelings towards her. |
He was conscious at the time… she was unconscious so we will never know if she would have bitten her way out of it. |
I would - from what I know and read I would say she is. Patty PS Some of you younger ARFCOMers probably don't recall but about 15 years or so ago President Nixon was in Russia on a diplomatic mission and President Carter had previously critized the President Bush for some action he took [first President Bush] and Some one asked President Nixon what he thought of it and he said "I'm in Russia on foriegn soil, I support my President 100% what do you think?" [understand the point?] |
