How the hell do you get them to dig? I click the digging icon, click on a lem....and nothing

The map has to allow it. I.E. you get a certain number of digging lemmings in a level, or blocking lemmings.

Dont forget to try all the different games from the Main menu (Fun, Tricky etc).
Just beat the Fun level. 10 maps on it.

I've had that game for almost 10 years and I stil love it. I was very pleased when I found out it runs just fine in 'Classic' mode under OSX 'Tiger'. The HTML version does not do it justice.

Another great game along the same lines is 'Pit Droids' from LucasArts.

I have a DOS version of that game that still runs great. The Super Nintendo version of it was awesome. It had a great and chaotic 2 player mode. The object was to try to steal the other guys lemmings and direct them into your house, or just kill them all!

There are two ways to remove blockers:
Blow them up.
Dig the ground out from under them.
